Net Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

January 2nd, 2016 by Alexa Leave a reply »

Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to achieve closing poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best gamblers in the world. While competing in web poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has no reason to sit at the table with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amount. I believe television can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The best poker players anywhere in the world might be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be found participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in big stakes omaha high and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in money rounds?
