Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse comments from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He began competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an undying love for poker. He states that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
