Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup anything he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
